From Our Director: Blessed to Be a Blessing
If you've followed the Conway Ministry Center on social media this month, you've probably noticed something beautiful: photo after photo of donations filling our hallways, pantry shelves, and offices. Every box of cereal, every jar of peanut butter, every package of crackers tells the same story—our community continues to show up in remarkable ways.
Every spring, our staff begins preparing for what we know is coming. When school lets out, the needs of many families begin to shift. Parents work hard to piece together childcare while balancing jobs and responsibilities. Some older siblings find themselves caring for younger brothers and sisters while parents do everything they can to keep food on the table and the lights on.
At the Ministry Center, we see another side of summer as well. Families shopping in our Storehouse pantry reach for the foods that stretch the longest and the snacks their children can easily grab while they're home. Cereal, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, crackers, and other kid-friendly staples disappear from our shelves almost as quickly as they're stocked.
Several years ago, we began inviting local churches to consider making the Conway Ministry Center the local mission project for their Vacation Bible Schools. It's become one of my favorite traditions each summer. We have the opportunity to visit these churches, spend time with their children, and remind them that God doesn't only call people to serve across oceans. Sometimes He calls us to serve right here in our own neighborhoods. Mission work can begin wherever God has planted us.
This year, the response has been overwhelming.
Church after church said "yes." Children collected food with joyful hearts, families gave generously, and our shelves have been replenished with many of the very items our families need most during the summer months. To every church, every child, every volunteer, and every person who chose to give—thank you. You have become part of the stories unfolding every day inside these walls.
As I reflect on this month, I keep thinking about something a dear friend often says: "We are blessed to be a blessing."
Those words have stayed with me because they capture something I witness every single day. God's blessings are never meant to stop with us. They are invitations to become channels of His grace for someone else. Whether we're the ones giving or the ones receiving, we are all living beneath His faithful provision.
I count it a privilege to come to work at the Conway Ministry Center each day. Not because the work is easy, but because I get to witness the goodness of God expressed through His people. There is no place we can go where His presence is absent, and there is no act of kindness too small for Him to use.
Thank you for walking alongside us. Thank you for believing in this mission. And thank you for helping us remind our neighbors that hope is still alive.
With gratitude,
Sarah Wilson
