From Our Director: See What God Has Done

Dear Friends,

There are moments in this work when I am completely aware that God is in control of everything happening at the Conway Ministry Center and Refuge. And then there are moments when I look around at all that this ministry has become and find myself almost amazed by the size of it all.

Lately, I've had several of those moments.

Recently, Conway Ministry Center was honored to receive the Community Impact Award from the Conway Area Chamber of Commerce for the work happening through our free walk-in clinic. To stand there and see this ministry recognized by our community was incredibly humbling. Then came the opportunity to share some of our stories through local news coverage and to watch even more people learn about the work happening here.

Through all of it, I kept thinking the same thing:

God has been so faithful.

People believe in this mission. Churches believe in it. Volunteers believe in it. Community partners, donors, businesses, medical professionals, universities, and everyday people continue to step forward and say, “How can we help?”

And some days, I am simply amazed at how far God has brought us.

I was reminded of that recently when a group of longtime supporters invited us to join them for a luncheon. As I sat there talking about the Ministry Center, I found myself reminiscing about those early days—the prayers prayed before we knew exactly what all of this would become, the needs that seemed bigger than our resources, and the times we simply had to trust that if God was calling us forward, He would make a way.

I couldn't help but smile.

Because He did.

Again and again and again.

One of my favorite reminders in Scripture comes from Ephesians 3:20:

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…”

Immeasurably more.

Those words feel especially meaningful to me right now. There were things we prayed for years ago that we are now living in the middle of. There are families sleeping safely at the Refuge tonight because people said yes. There are people receiving food, medical care, case management, encouragement, and dignity because churches and individuals throughout this community decided that caring for our neighbors matters.

What an honor it is to follow Him.

And what a privilege it is to discover that there really are no boundaries to what God can accomplish when His people are willing to say yes.

So while I am celebrating where we've been, I'm also looking forward.

Because I don't believe God is finished.

I hope you'll join us at our upcoming Community Banquet. We've been working on something special for you—including a video that will give you an up-close look at life at the Refuge and introduce you to some of the hilarious personalities of the kids who call it home. I have a feeling you'll laugh as much as we have.

But we're also going to talk about what comes next.

There is another chapter ahead for Conway Ministry Center and the Refuge. There are more families to serve, more needs to meet, more partnerships to build, and more opportunities for the Church and our community to step forward together.

So come celebrate with us. Come laugh with us. Come remember what God has already done—and come help us imagine what He might do next.

Because if these past years have taught me anything, it is this:

When God opens the door, I want to be among the people willing to walk through it.

And I can't wait to see where He takes us next.
