September Staff Spotlight: Reverend Jarett Wilson

This month, we’re excited to shine our Staff Spotlight on Reverend Jarett Wilson, Shelter Manager at the Refuge.

Jarett stepped into his role in June 2024, joining the Refuge during one of the most important seasons in its story—while the property was still in the height of renovation and being transformed into a place where families experiencing homelessness could find safety, stability, and hope.

Long before the first family walked through the doors, Jarett was there helping prepare the way.

Since the Refuge opened, Jarett has been responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the property and making sure the countless moving pieces of a 24/7 shelter continue to work together. From managing the facility and tackling unexpected problems to supporting staff and walking alongside residents, no two days look quite the same.

Perhaps what makes Jarett especially suited for this work is that he is the perfect combination of a project manager and a pastor. He has the ability to see what needs to be fixed, organized, built, or accomplished—but he never loses sight of the people in the middle of it all.

His pastor’s heart is evident in the way he leads the Refuge team and invests in the families who call the Refuge home. Jarett has a deep passion for discipleship and believes ministry happens not only in church buildings, but in everyday conversations, difficult moments, acts of service, and simply being willing to walk alongside someone.

For Jarett, the Refuge is more than a building to manage. It is a place to minister.

Outside of the Refuge, Jarett is married to Sarah, and together they have two sons, Sawyer, 20, and Paxton, 15.

We are incredibly grateful for the leadership, steadiness, compassion, and servant’s heart Jarett brings to the Refuge—and for the many ways he works, often behind the scenes, to make this place feel a little more like home for every family who walks through its doors.
